Important Information

Bringing a Firearm into New Zealand to Hunt.

You can bring your own firearm to New Zealand to use for hunting. You have to make sure you have completed the New Zealand Police paperwork and visitors' firearms licence before you arrive. Quality firearms are available from The Chase Fiordland and can be borrowed for your hunt. Click the link below for NZ Police Paperwork.

Accommodation, while actively hunting, is predominately mountain tents, with occasional access to backcountry huts. We recommend for travellers on long haul international flights that you spend a night in a motel or lodge upon arrival into New Zealand to rest up and be well prepared for hunting. We have great connections with local accommodation providers in Te Anau, Fiordland Lodge is our go to place for clients to stay pre, during or post hunting, depending on the situation. We can arrange accommodation to fit your budget as long as you let us know. Click on the link below to check out Fiordland Lodge.

Gear List

Wanting a gear list of what clothing and hunting equipment you will be required to bring with you on a hunt? When you make an enquiry you will be sent a full gear list.

When booking a hunt, please be 100% honest about your fitness levels and medical conditions, as we need to know this when planning your hunt. New Zealand mountains are steep and rugged however there are easier backcountry options. The fitter you are the more enjoyable your Chase experience will be.

This means we have the capacity to change location to beat the weather. If the weather means the hunt cannot go ahead, there will be no extra cost to change the dates and hunt at a different date in the future. However we can usually work around the weather.
